Carlos Brown received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from Michigan State University and his Masters of Arts degree in Social Work from Walden University. Carlos currently holds a limited license since 2019. Carlos has received his state endorsement for Trauma-Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has completed workshops in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP) for youth and adults. His first therapy experience was as an Outpatient and Outreach Therapist for Community Mental Health. Carlos provided outpatient services to clients and collaborated with intercity schools to provide therapy in the educational setting for youth in need. Carlos has vast experience from his roles in residential care settings, refugee, foster care, behavioral health case management, home-based senior services, support coordination, and program management. Carlos has worked with very diverse populations, from youth to older adults, in his roles.

Carlos’s passion for mental health consists of the demystifying stigma associated with mental health, symptom management, and resiliency. Carlos believes in the whole person’s treatment, so he loves collaborating with additional professionals to provide the most optimal treatment and recovery.

Carlos uses several skills and client collaboration to tailor treatment to everyone. As a certified Youth Mental Health Professional, Carlos loves providing community training, psychoeducation, harm reduction methods, safety planning, family collaboration, and Social-Emotional Learning skills training for overall wellness. Carlos provides the following services: Telehealth, individual and family therapy. Carlos prefers to work with the following populations:

  • Children ages 5-16
  • Young adults 17-24
  • Adults 25-30
  • LGBTQIA+ population
